Daniel Johnson

Oil Painter | Daniel J. Johnson Gallery

"I crystallize what I visualize...to bring an idea to life".
When asked who inspires him, Daniel mentions several artists - from Ernie Barnes and his depiction of African American culture in vibrant color and earth tones to Salvador Dali and the way he plays on the conscious and subconscious. Most of his inspiration and structure come from his upbringing; having a parent and 2 older siblings who are also extremely gifted helped to pave the way for Daniel to become the artist that he is today.
His body of work is a mix of life like surreal illustrations of jazz scenes, cityscapes and African American history. He chooses subject matters that provoke thought and emotions.
