Melanie's  motto is, "Art is open, and art is endless. There's a world of creative possibility out there. Go find it. Go do it. Go create it." Melanie is fickle with her art and loves to experiment with different mediums. Some days heavy acrylic applications are the way to go. Other days the uncertainty of encaustics suits her mood. A little joint compound and some watercolor paint often complete the deal for a mixed media piece. Her absolute adoration of nature is a big inspiration in her art. Recreating the fleeting beauty that is present in the natural world brings her great joy. Seasons change. Colors fade. Textures alter. And then there's perfection versus imperfection. She often questions if it's possible to find beauty in imperfection. It's from this question that many of her portraits are born.
