Rita Whaley

Painting/Multimedia

Rita's  vibrant and colorful paintings aim to uplift your spirits and inspire your imagination. She seeks to show deeper experiences of our shared humanity, and the richness of nature in the world around us.   Starting with random shapes and colors as a background, she opens her mind to all possibilities. Different images emerge, take shape and suggest outlines and definition. Dreams, her view of the world, spiritual experiences and intuitive feelings find their own place into her pieces. She enjoys the process and the surprise of letting her paintings evolve organically.

For the last few years, a chronic disability no longer allows  her to stand and paint in front of an easel. Fortunately, She founds a new medium for her creative expression: “Art with a Digital Brush”. Rita uses a stylus as her brush on a graphics tablet, plus the keyboard to select colors and different media, while watching her monitor screen for results. This allows Rita to mix paint digitally, use different brush strokes, and create the illusion of texture, oil paints, acrylics, water colors, pastels and more. It is important to know that she never uses outside images or graphic manipulation of art that is not her own.  Her finished images are printed on canvas in a variety of sizes. Rita's work is authentic, with the extra benefit of allowing her  to print limited editions.
